A Tribute To Elvis In the Month of His Birth- January 8, 1935

WE NEED BUT ONE NAME TO KNOW HIM BY; FOR ALL THE WORLD CAN IDENTIFY
Little boy in Tupelo, as you lie there fast abed;
Grandiose dreams and fantasies play lightly 'round your head.
While deep within, a melody,
Wrenched out by mother- love;
Is joined in perfect harmony,
Born of this love so perfectly;
It could not be denied,
And burst forth in our consciousness,
Whereby a nation cried.
Sing not of lust, he seemed to say;
But what must take its form;
And swept us into ecstasy;
By way the perfect storm.
Remember not of only;
His lips, his eyes, his hair;
But what did make them glorious:
The light within the lair.
Roaring forth in majesty;
To light our frightened path,
With gentle love and rhythm-
Paid chase our angst and wrath.
We cannot part the entities;
The music and the man-
Both bound up in a wondrous form;
Within an enigmatic plan.
That glow still lights the firmament;
The world may bask within;
Our song can see the way now,
For we know where we have been.
LONG LIVE THE KING!

Sorry to say, all in all I didn't much care for Elvis. I guess in the time I grew up you either were nuts about him or really not. He went through a lot of angst and trauma in his life and I do feel that it ended way too soon. Marijo
Beneath it all- Elvis was a human being- with faults and flaws of his own- just as we all have in different degrees and quanities. It's his good qualities we want to remember, as we would all like to be remembered- He used his God-given talents to inspire a whole generation - to sing- make music from our hearts- to love to laugh.......to live- Long live his memory for this.
Beautiful tribute, Ella to "The music and the man..." Well-written. Thanks for sharing this to us.
