"Pride Goeth Before the Fall" Does This axiom engender fear of our natural pride?

Upon thinking about the things I'm proud of- I've found that I'm virtuously filled with pride.  This pride is, to me, tantamount to counting my blessings- for things for which I'm grateful and proud. I consider this pride, if you will, a virtue-rather than a sin of any kind- for it is not a false pride; but an earned one to which I have a right.

We may, upon this pondering, find that we have many things for which we have earned a right to be proud; things that we may have temporarily forgotten.

First and foremost, I'm proud to be a woman; and all that this entails for me; for this entailing is an earned one.

I'm proud to be a Texan- whose roots go deep into the heart of this great land for generations- to stand upon the layered pinnacle of the blood, sweat and tears of my ancestors, and add what I can of my own.

Some people ask: "Why are Texans so proud?"  The answer is quite simple- like our land, we  have lot to be proud of. We believe firmly in the axiom- "If you've got it; flaunt it." And Texas has got it.

I'm proud to be a member of SearchWarp. A warm inviting haven for the mind- it beckons from the oft times hostile cold of an alien cyberspace, and gives new meaning and purpose to the internet.

To create a new frontier of psychic family, friends and fraternity; and prove that it can actually work- is indeed an amazing accomplishment. The measure of success which differentiates the world of SearchWarp from its similar fellows appears to be the addition of the secret ingredient – human touch.  Without this vital ingredient, it may have been, as so many other like enterprises, as unleavened bread.

Rising to the occasion of SearchWarp, is a pride-engendering challenge- a challenge to be and express through our written words, who and what we truly are-the us behind the iron mask we are required to wear, by the society in which we live.

Last, but certainly not least, I'm as proud as punch to be an American- to live in a country such as America- where the freedom to be a woman, and all that entails for me-a state such as Texas and a website such as SearchWarp can exist and flourish.  Long live accomplished pride!
Proud to be...

A well written, concise, and marvelous definition of pride. Indeed we have every right to be proud of our accomplishments, individually and collectively as a nation. To this end, I say, "let the past be our guide, and the future be ours to build". Always, Rick M

Amen on your pride. An excellent enumeration of the "layers" of our lives that we truly can be proud of. Did not know about the "psychic" part. Maybe I can find more about that in the future. Here's to ya.

Very nice Ms. Ella. We also will have much more to be prideful for once we allow people to shed the masks that shield them from public harassment for who they truly are and truly believe. Always dreamin'.

From one real woman to another, I thank you. If we hide our light under a bush- people won't part the branches to find it. Unless one is ashamed of their light, and prefer to hide it- I say- let it shine.-Always- Ella
