The Devastating Effects of Pornography On the Human Psyche

As a voracious parasite- pornography gorges on the most basic of human instincts-our sexuality.
Alike unto a mad scientist experimenting with the human psyche, it attempts to rewire this most primal instinct onto an unreal idea and projection; creating monstrous beliefs in the minds of its unsuspecting victims. It creates a fabricated stimulus that diverts natural human sexual desire toward an unnatural belief in mechanical satisfaction.
One alarming prospect of these damaging effects is the recurring of objectification of women as merely sex objects- a retro-state of mind that conscientious men and women have been struggling to overcome for generations. This impeding of progressive thinking can ultimately, once again, drive a wedge between male and female resulting in further inclination toward gay and lesbian experiences. This human need for emotion-driven sexual experience is not being met by the opposite sex. Unchecked perpetual exposure to this addiction may quite likely lead to the prevalence of a dangerous impropriety in the probity of human behavior.
These erotic unrealistic videos have thus become a powerful weapon in the hands of our greatest enemies- enemies who throughout time have been set on the downfall of Mankind on Earth. The tempting lie of this deception is the same lie told in the Garden of Eden. “Partake of this fruit and you will become powerful and wise, with the sexual prowess of the gods.”
In the shadows of this oblique lie- young and old are becoming programmed to believe that these explicit porn videos hold the answers to the great mystery of sex. The thorn on the rose of this supposed wisdom draws the blood of misconception- a misconception that the act of mechanical sex is complete in and of itself- sans the benefit of emotional connection between partners. Both men and women lose something vital to the sexual experience within this delusion-when they exclude the reveries of the unknown. Gone is the mounting excitement of gradual discovery and anticipation- the wonder at the human connection.
Beyond the mechanical sex act is the essential sharing of friendship-loyalty-intellect and mutual support- necessary ingredients for successful human fulfillment. The accumulated results of porn addiction indicate that rather than whetting the appetite for sex, it can, through repetitive unrealistic expectations, deaden the ability to appreciate and enjoy real natural sex.
Perhaps this upsurge of internet porn may partially explain the popularity of cosmetic surgery, outrageous sensuality of dress and promiscuous actions among young girls today; feeling their own sense of sexual value lowered- they attempt to compete with the blatant unreal fantasies of female porn stars.
What has become of simple “Lovemaking”? The delicate intricacies of this age-old, time-tested human practice is perceived by porn addicts, as a waste of time and energy rather than an enjoyable and necessary prelude to the end result of fulfilling sex. There are still a few things in our modern world that should not be expedited.
By taking this short-cut to Wonderland- they miss the enticing scenery along the way, and cheat themselves of the “Full Monty” of the human sexual trip.

I agree with much of your article especially regarding young people. I think many are trying to keep up with the crazy stuff that much of porn is about. I'd kinda hate to be growing up in today's day and age because kids see this stuff and believe it's all okay and more than that, they start to think it's mainstream behavior and they get lost in wacky sex at a very young age. Along with that, venereal disease in some areas is out of this world in the amount of cases that are seen. Why do you think they have a vaccine for genital warts and that many professionals feel ALL young girls should get it---its because that venereal disease is SO common.
Having said all this, I feel there is a place for porn for the discriminating and non obsessive or compulsive adult. Some people will throw something at the computer when they read what I said here but sex is a strong, natural and normal desire to contemplate and to view that topic area for an adult is not the end all, unless it is a crutch or substitute for the real thing.

Hi Steve..you know what....something occured to me while reading your comment- One of the main reasons why porn has become so prevelent nowadays is probably because of the multitude of dangers in becoming involved in a real-live sexual relationship. As you indicated- we will have some kind of sex life- if we can't get steak, we'll learn to like beans- which are actually quite tasty, provide as much protien as meat- and if not eaten to excess, make a satisfactory nourishing meal-LOL Thanks so much for reading and commenting, and don't be a stranger...Always Ella

The whole pornography industry has always bothered me for the same reasons as you, Ella. And because of how blurred the line is between "innocuous" porn and rank exploitation and abuse of women and children. And now with how impossible it is to monitor the internet, it's completely out of control.Yeah Jenn- it's sort of like drugs and alcohol- they turn harmful when they get out of bounds and are misused. Not only nice picture, but great picture. And that underlies the fact I am going to try and make here. Physical appeal is the primary function of natural selection and the basis of whether or not a deeper emotional relationship may ensue. We are the only animal species on the planet that has manipulated pure sexual desire (the need to procreate to enhance the survival of the species) into a means of control that requires monogamy as a pretext to social acceptance. Hence clothes, make up, reconstructive surgery, etc. so that your physical appeal aids in your quest to be more desirable to the cream of the crop, so to speak, of the opposite sex. This decision made by men, because the church determined early on that if it could control people's most basic instinct (procreation) they then could control any other facet of their lives was the beginning of "the acceptance" by the masses of human oppression, and to our detriment the repression of our genetic pool which leaves us more vulnerable to the attacks on our biological existence. As far as homosexuality is concerned this is a pre-conclusion to the acceptance of church dogma as opposed to genetic disposition which scientific inquiry and examination tend to suggest, and in my opinion injects the acceptance of bigotry and hatred for anything which does not align itself with this closed minded dogma. The "mad scientist experimenting with the human psyche," is clearly the church and not the most basic of human instincts that have been around for much longer than our desire to manipulate them. I love your thoughts, although I tend to disagree with you on this issue as you have portrayed it. However this does not mean that discretion should not be practiced, I just don't think the church or any other human being should have the right (although they do) to determine how anybody else should choose to determine their sexual functions.
