Finding the Keys that Unlock the Human Wisdom innate within us all

Using the map of our own brain-we may find these keys hidden in plain sight- and use them in our own individual customized brain fitness program which we design for ourselves. They are the controls of memory, spatial reasoning, focus, and attention- which are provided within our brain. This program entails an exercise plan to gain- not lose; and allows us to consume anything and everything to gain the weight of wisdom. As the wisdom of the mind grows heavy, the mind expands to carry it as we live. Our goal is to reach the greatest weight of our cognitive potential.
Memory
Science has connected memory to our general intelligence.
Our basic ability to learn by retaining what we’ve learned is tied to our ability to remember.
Our capability to learn in childhood is greater i.e., our ability to remember is greater at that time; after all, we have a lot less to remember then. :)
As we live our lives, we may block certain of our memory channels; or rather pull a curtain across them, if you will, in discomfort or present uselessness of the memories flowing therein. This can allow a greater stronger force to be released from the others.
We may use this key to control the chaos of our memories-while retaining the process of our creative chaos- a bit of a sticky wicket at times, to open and close the channels of our remembrance at will. And yet, we must take care not to seal these channels too tightly, as we will have need to re-enter from time-to-time and take inventory. As with any exercise, this becomes easier with practice.
Fluid Intelligence
We use this tool by not prohibiting what we allow the mind to consume. We must in effect, learn to be gluttons for information and knowledge; allowing the fluid of our intelligence to flow over the hills and valleys of whatever terrain we may cross.
Spatial reasoning and Focus
We use these tools to first separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak; and to zero-in and highlight the information we’ve gleaned from the river of our fluid intelligence- which we may then more easily deposit in our memory bank.
We may utilize this saved information more efficiently by updating and improving our filing system- setting said information into categories, side-by-side with their like neighbors. Each of us will eventually evolve our own peculiar exercise plan for filing and retaining memories.
Quick retrieval may be achieved by filtering out the clambering babble of surrounding thoughts with a strong beam of focused attention to the target we have in our sights- concentration, or a form of instant meditation, if you will. This may better insure our locking in on and hitting the bull’s eye of specific remembrance.
Flexibility
Unless you are extremely talented and learned in the expertise of mental multitasking- attempting to juggle too many thoughts and ideas at once can be an exercise in futility in which we may drop not only one or two, but all of the balls at once. But multitasking is a learnable expertise. Allowing the synapses in our brain to play tag over the fields of our acquired information encourages flexibility, which in turn incurs coverage of more territory in this learning trek. Time, practice and discipline are the manuals for learning to use the tool of flexibility.
Using the tools of spatial reasoning, and flexibility may enable us to make quicker mental estimates by comparisons and calculations. We may use multiple options from patterns and trends we’ve filed away in our memory bank using focused attention, making for quick and easy access and application. Flexibility of our fluid intelligence can improve our cognitive process- once we control this process, it may become second nature to us- and bloom into flowers of creative thinking.
These functions will be utilized by each of us according to our own limits and capabilities- which degrees are not as important as progression to their greatest potential.
We cannot base our progress on other people’s expectations; we must base it on our own.
Mental Processing Speed
Just as a child moves with greater speed than an older adult- our mental processing speed will eventually slow down with age- it is what it is.
All I will say about this is: “Do not go softly into that goodnight.” Turn on every light in your house and let them blaze for as long as the bulbs will last- “Let’s go out in a blaze of glory!”
It’s been a pleasure- Always Ella

Top-level comments on this article: (9 total)To you, the blazingest writer I know. Lovely work and very needed. People need to think about how we think.Thinking about how we think takes a lot of thinking! But then everyone has to be doing something..:) Thanks Chris
Ahh flexibility! The thing of which dreams are made and the key to everlasting growth.Without flexibility we crack like the mighty oak in the wind- with it we bend with the wind like the flexible willow. Thanks for commenting David- Always Ella
Great article and the quote in the end :)Thanks HyunSoung- I'm pleased that you liked it- Always Ella
The pineal gland plays an important role in improving memory, concentration and wisdom. :-) I was watching a video on YouTube yesterday about it and also had studied about this in my yoga days in school. This gland is associated with the eyebrow chakra and does immense things unknown to us. Once awakened, intelligence is unlimited. Thank you for sharing again.Although the complete function of the pineal gland is not known, modern science has ascribed to it the production of melatonin- a substance said to control our sleep/wake patterns; and affected by light and darkness. since these are perceived by our eyes, we have the name attached to the pineal gland, by the occult philosophies, "The third Eye."
This metaphysical perception of its function may have derived from Descartes' view that a malfunction of this gland can produce excess and delirium- probably caused from too much sleep or a lack thereof.
As far as its effect on basic intelligence, I don't think it has any... except for the fact that we are able to learn better, easier and faster when we are fully rested and awake than when we are tired or half asleep-:) Thank you so much Mystic-- good to see you again- Always Ella
"Hidden in plain sight" - I love that, Ella, as I do your last para: “Do not go softly into that goodnight." Turn on every light in your house and let them blaze for as long as the bulbs will last- “Let’s go out in a blaze of glory!"
Let's indeed. Let's wake up to the reality of how we operate, and operate as fully as we can as long as we can!If we bend over toward the ground, we'll hide the light we carry in our hands- we must stand up straight and hold it aloft. Thanks Jenn- Always Ella
good article. small pragraphes made is easy to understand. amongs all wisdom you offered its my personal Motto: "We cannot base our progress on other people’s expectations"
The human brain is the single most complicated object in the cosmos and is part of the quantum physics of the universe in its ability to broadcast and to receive.
Unfortunately, wisdom is rare and common sense isn't common.
Wondrous article of a map, unused in travel, by most in desperate need of directions.
Always,
Paul
Wondrous article about a map, unused by most, who seek life's directions and destinations..
The human mind is also part of the quantum physics of the Universe, in its untapped ability to receive and broadcast and remains the single most complicated 'thing', in the cosmos.
Always,
Paul
Wow. What a great construction about the wonder of our world. Thanks for your precise, detailed and colorful piece. Obviously, lots of others loved it too. As always I think you have done a great job. It makes you go places you don't usually go.
